Welcome to ULAvgas!

Do we really need a dedicated Aviation Fuels page?

That was the main question when starting to think about this site. The main objective was always to inform and point people in the right direction.

Ultimately there is only one official source of information and that is the aircraft and engine handbook of the aircraft you fly but reality shows that those handbooks are sometimes (or even often) not updated and that means you are not only missing out on valuable information but also may not have the latest information on the approval of new types of Aviation Fuels

Outside of the official publications, there is a lot that is moving in the Aviation Fuels world. SAF is already developed and certified as an aviation fuel and is in many cases compatible with JetA or JetA1 and in Europe the pressure is on to come up with a replacement for TEL (Tetra-Ethyl-Lead) which is the lead component in Avgas. This does not mean that Avgas100LL will disappear in 2025 as some people say but we are moving into a sunset phase for Avgas100LL.  With this page we aim to inform you on the progress made in the field of aviation fuels and the implications for you as a pilot.

Stay tuned for updates!
